Door Numbers

When you are out and about, walking down the street, ask your child to look at the house numbers.

See what patterns they can see. Most UK streets with house numbers follow an odd / even pattern.

Talk about the pattern.

Once your child is familiar with the way the numbers increase see if they can guess what number will be on the next house?

Walking along one side of the street, encourage them to say the numbers aloud as they pass each house: “2, 4, 6, 8, 10…”

This is also a good opportunity to talk about the different styles of number they might see.
