Food Weights

This activity involves reading weight information on food packets and tins.

Help your child to search the kitchen cupboards for food packets, boxes or tins.

See if they can find different weights of food marked in grams or kilograms.

Can your child find six different food packets (or tins) weighing

less than 500g?

Make a list, noting the name of the food and the actual weight.

When you have found six write the foods out again, putting them in order of weight

PARENTS

If you have kitchen scales you could ask your children to check the accuracy of the weight written on the packets. If they find there is a difference encourage them to think about why this might happen.

Share  what you have done with your teacher - write about what you found out, take pictures or post a tweet to your School.
