The Buzz Game

This is an entertaining way to practice times tables facts

Lets play Buzz

To play the game you choose a times table.

Then you take it in turns to count, but each time you reach one of the multiples you have chosen you must say the word 'buzz' instead of the number.

For example, with the 3x table the count would go:

1,    2,    'buzz',    4,    5,    'buzz',

7,    8,    'buzz',    10,   11,   'buzz',

13,    14,    'buzz',    16 ... and so on

The counting stops when you reach 12x the multiple you have chosen (12x3, in this case) 36, or as soon as someone makes a mistake.

Play the game a few times with a times table your child is learning.

If it is going well you can let the count go further than the twelfth multiple.

If it's going really well, you could challenge your child to count backwards from 100, saying 'buzz' each time one of the multiples is reached.
