The Answer is 10…

You say to your child:

"If the answer is 10, what could the question be?"

What would they say in reply?

  • 5 x 2
  • 4 add 6
  • Half of 20
  • 14 take-away 4
  • 1 more than 9

All of these are correct, your chid could be more inventive...

There are many more options.

  • 100 subtract 90
  • 2 x 4 and then 2 more
  • A quarter of 40
  • 60 divided by 6
  • 1 more than 9

Encourage your child to think of as many different ways to answer the 'question' as possible.

Repeat the process by changing the question...

"If the answer is 20, what could the question be?"
