A Coin and Two Dice

This game could have been called “250 or Bust!” because 250 is the target.

You will need a coin, two dice and a piece of paper and a pencil.

Take it in turn to roll both dice and to toss the coin.

Here’s what happens next:

Multiply the two numbers on the dice – keep the product in your head.

Look at the coin,

  • if it is Heads up then double the number in your head;
  • if the coin is showing Tails then treble the number.

This is your score. Write it down.

Here's an example:

You roll a 5 and a 4 - the coin shows heads.

5 x 4 doubled is 40

You roll a 5 and a 6 - the coin shows tails.

5 x 6 tripled is 90

NOW

Take it in turns to play, add up your scores as you go. The first person to reach 250 is the winner.

Don’t forget to celebrate. Maybe the winner gets to keep the coin. (Children: tell your parents you have to play with one of their £2 coins!)
