Here are five number puzzles

Each puzzle below has a series of clues to a mystery number.

Can work out what the number is for each puzzle?

Puzzle 1

  • clues

  • answer

The number:

  • is greater than 7
  • has two digits
  • is less than a dozen
  • looks the same even if you swap the two digits around

Puzzle 2

  • clues

  • answer

The number:

  • is less than 10
  • is higher than 4
  • is an even number
  • is in the three times table

Puzzle 3

  • clues

  • answer

The number:

  • is between 20 and 40
  • is even
  • has two digits, the sum of the digits is 9

Puzzle 4

  • clues

  • answer

The number:

  • is odd
  • is between 10 and 60
  • is in the 5 times table
  • the sum of the two digits is 7

Puzzle 5

  • clues

  • answer

The number:

  • is lower than 50
  • is in the three times table
  • is not even
  • is 2 more than a multiple of 5

PARENTS

When your child guesses a number, test the guess against each of the clues in turn. If the guess is wrong, this will help them to think carefully about their next guess.

If they are successful with all of these puzzles ask them to create one of their own.
