Pocket Money Budget

Plan a pocket-money budget across a few categories and work out how long it would take to save up for something.

  1. If your child regularly earns pocket money you can ask them to plan out a budget.

Ask them to think about the different ways they spend their pocket money. See if they can think of three or four different categories, such as:

    • food/sweets,
    • entertainment,
    • savings,
    • charity,
    • gifts
  2. If they divided their money up between the different categories how many weeks would it take before they had saved (say) £20?

How long would it be before they could buy a particular gift?

Think of different ways they can plan to use or save money.
